CRAB HANDS IN DEEP WATERS

Acrylic and Raffia on Linen
48in x 36in
2026

"Crab Hands In Deep Waters" reflects the legacy of Black crab captains whose lives and labor are deeply tied to the coast. Inspired by the oral stories of Ernest L. McIntosh Sr., captured by the Georgia Black Fishermen Project, the work centers memory, tradition, and survival. I see this piece as a way of holding history with care while sharing my own story within it. Storytelling and cultural connection are central to my practice, and this work continues that commitment.
