What if home was never just a place?

Where We Become Home brings together two things I’ve been deeply curious about in my work, the human body and the built environment, and asks what happens when we see them as expressions of the same thing: home, identity, and belonging.

A Hamer woman, her hair saturated in red ochre, clay, and earth, is placed within the distinctive elephant-shaped architecture of the Dorze people, creating a visual dialogue between two Ethiopian cultures.

Here, the structure becomes more than shelter. It becomes an extension of her body, holding memory, ancestry, and cultural identity.

I keep coming back to this question: where does architecture end, and the human form begin?

Maybe the spaces we create don’t just house us. Maybe they help shape how we understand who we are.
